A tribute to a classic piece of Western New York history.
Own a one-of-a-kind mixed-media tribute to the 1960s Kodak Flashmite 20. This original piece reimagines a staple of Rochester, NY photography with a gritty, industrial edge. This is not a print; it is a physical, hand-painted masterwork from my Buffalo, NY studio.
I produced this piece using a high-contrast stencil over a hand-textured white gesso base, giving the camera a physical depth that mirrors its mid-century bakelite origins. The background is a moody “industrial fog” swirl of teals and greens, accented by a subtle red mesh grid that provides a mechanical warmth to the composition. To ensure every detail is authentic, I hand-finished the iconic red logo and flash components using precision paint pens.
The Process & Materials: To ensure this piece remains a durable part of your collection, it is prepared on a professional 8×8″ wood panel. The entire work is finished with a protective satin varnish, which creates an authentic vintage sheen while eliminating the harsh, distracting reflections caused by room lighting. Each original is signed on the front by the artist (thinksojoe) and arrives ready for display.
Note on Dimensions: These panels are sourced as 8×8 inches; however, as they are hand-prepared wood, actual dimensions may vary by a few millimeters. This gives each piece a unique, rustic profile that fits perfectly on a studio shelf, desk, or as part of a gallery wall.
