I produced this piece using a multi-layer stencil process to capture the unmistakable silhouette and cool of the D-O-double-G in his prime. To lean into the signature aesthetic of the era, the portrait is set against a vibrant blue background, providing a clean, high-contrast “pop” that makes the figure the focal point of the piece.
Gritty, Hand-Cut Detail: Unlike digital prints, this original was created using professional-grade paint on a solid 8×8″ wood panel. Every layer was hand-cut and meticulously applied to achieve sharp, graphic detail while maintaining the unique texture and depth that only an original stencil work can provide.
