Wow. June is almost over? And it's been like 3 weeks since I posted here? Crazy.
Well, I guess the first thing to do is to say that the project I referred to in my last post is a go! The project in question? None other than the project that got me my nickname - thinksobrain! Jorge and I have decided to go ahead and re-create the band that brought us together in the first place. We're looking for a new guitarist and a new drummer. Meanwhile, we're working on possibly doing something really cool - something that my wife says would "mean the world to" her. So, we'll see how that goes. Updates as they come in, of course.
This past Friday night, TNA Impact Wrestling was in town. Last time they were here, I e-mailed them to try and get press/media passes, and got no response. This year I tried again. Thinking I wouldn't get a response, I didn't check my e-mail at all on Thursday. Friday morning at 4 AM, I finally did, and I had an e-mail from their publicist. I responded right away with all of the information she'd asked for, and just 20 minutes before Caroline & I were going to buy tickets, I got the call that I had two tickets waiting for me at will call for the sake of reviewing the show. We had a great time at the show, and the review is currently in the hands of TNA Wrestling, awaiting approval. Should know sometime later today if they like it or not. Nevertheless, we had a great time at the show, and at the end of the night, Caroline and I got to meet one of her favorite wrestlers of all time, The Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy. I made sure to get him to give her a hug, because she was too shy to ask.
Looking forward to seeing what the future brings. I'm hearing some big names being tossed about from some BWF associates for possible interviews, there's the whole thinksobrain thing on the horizon, and some great summer concerts (free and otherwise) coming up. Plus, we're four months away from launching BoredHockeyFan, and we've already got the next site in our "FANchise" in mind.
I just had a discussion a few hours ago about one of my brands that has been dormant for a while. I'm not going to say which one - details aren't final, nothing is set in stone, and the last thing I want to do is talk on this blog about another project that's in the works and not coming to fruition.
I'm hopeful, but I'm not getting my hopes up either. The conversation I had earlier was very positive, and the fact that this is an established brand I'm looking to revamp as opposed to a new one I'm trying to launch is a very good thing. We'll take things one step at a time and see where they go. If and when I have solid details as pertains to this, I will announce them as I see fit. Thanks for reading.
I'm lazy. I never bother to blog over here anymore. It's not that I don't like this site, it's just that I never feel compelled to write here. That said, I do try to get a post in at least once a month to let people know what's going on with me.
The potential business venture I talked about in previous posts hasn't been discussed any further, so I'm not holding my breath on it. Meanwhile, BoredWrestlingFan continues to grow. We've been networking with other sites to get ourselves more exposure, and we've got some great interview guests in the pipeline that I'm greatly looking forward to talking with. We're expanding our "Bored Fan Network" with BoredHockeyFan in September (barring a lockout) and eventually into BoredMusicFan, and possibly beyond. I'm definitely excited about the potential this network of sites has. I do believe that in the wake of all of this I may phase out VinceRussoWatchesHisBeardGrow.com, since we barely touch that one anymore.
I just celebrated my first wedding anniversary, and I baked cupcakes for my wife from scratch. I got a ton of great advice from Natalie, who runs the Bake and Destroy blog. She helped me out with a great recipe for a marshmallow fondant icing to use, and told me about FoodWriter markers, which you can use to draw on food. So, I made cupcakes and I decorated them like my wife's favorite bands, among other things, like a special anniversary cupcake and a few Buffalo themed ones. I even threw in a CM Punk cupcake in an homage to Bake and Destroy. I'll tell you, I made a HUGE mess of my kitchen while trying to make the fondant, but I managed to get it all cleaned up to the point that my wife had no idea that I was in there baking all day. Most of them came out pretty damned good, if I do say so myself.
Well, I guess that's all I really have to talk about right now. Thanks everyone for reading my randomness. I've got some BWF work to do still, so I think I'd better get started on that.
Well, still no official word on that new business venture I posted about a month ago. Still waiting on a decision from the other party, but I'll at least tell you guys that it's a difficult decision for this individual to make. I'm able to be more than patient at the moment.
BoredWrestlingFan started doing interviews with indy wrestlers and promoters a couple of weeks ago, starting with Dragon Gate USA Open The Freedom Gate Champion Johnny Gargano, who was an awesome guest. Coupled with BoredWrestlingFan Radio, it's given me plenty to do on the weekends. That workload is going to get bigger in September, because we'll be launching BoredHockeyFan.com just before the 2012/13 NHL season kicks off.
Finally, as if I'm not already overworking myself with BWF stuff and waiting to jump into a new business venture, I'd like to mention that I AM available for web design, promo flier design, and press release writing. Believe me, with these interviews on BoredWrestlingFan every week, I'm able to keep myself up on how to write press releases. If anybody's interested, email me at [email protected]. Later folks!
I'm very, very thrilled about a possible new business venture I may be embarking on in the near future. I'm not at liberty to discuss any further details, as this is not set in stone yet and I don't want to get my, or anybody else's, hopes up. If the deal I'm working on goes through, it will certainly be a game-changing situation for all involved.
Meanwhile, this Sunday kicks off WrestleMania week at Bored Wrestling Fan. We'll start things off with a huge podcast, and yours truly will have reviews of the last 7 WrestleManias starting with WrestleMania XX on Sunday and culminating with WrestleMania XXVII on Saturday. We'll wind up the week with a WrestleMania XXVIII pre-game podcast on April 1st, just prior to wrestling's "Grandest Stage of Them All."
So, essentially, I'm telling you to stay tuned to thinksojoe.com, because I'll certainly be blogging a lot more over the next few weeks with updates on everything I've got going on.
