Well, that was fun

I just tried logging in to the backend of this site for the first time since I uploaded all my local files associated with the new look.  I also uploaded all the admin files again and found out that I wasn't able to log in because I forgot to get rid of the "localhost" reference in the source code.  I'm brilliant.

Anyways, I thought I'd pop in and let everybody know what's been going on with me lately.  I've pretty much been keeping a low profile, working quite literally 8 days a week at "real life" jobs, and still finding time to post on BoredWrestlingFan.com occasionally.  The best part about owning a site like BWF is that I really don't have to do a lot of work, I have a very talented staff that covers everything for me.

I'm currently in a self-imposed exile from the WNY music scene.  I don't know how long that's going to last, but for the time being I'm focusing more on things where I can make some money and put food on my table.  Believe me, there have been some very tempting gigs out there for me, but the timing hasn't been right.

As far as the web/design aspect of my career, it's pretty well stalled.  I've designed a couple things here or there - the new BoredWrestlingFan layout, and of course, the new look of this particular site - but nothing major.  If anybody's looking to have any of that stuff done, let me know.  I'm available for fliers, logos, websites, and press releases.  I'm also considering getting into band management.  My job would be to help the band get gigs, promote shows, and order merch, among other things.  If any bands think they might be interested in that, let me know, but keep in mind that I've only done that stuff for thinksobrain before.  Of course, we had no trouble finding gigs, getting people out to them, getting good deals on t-shirts, and we were in the studio when the band broke up.

Other than all that, I don't really have a lot to talk about, just wanted to get a decent post up here for now.  Anybody interested in the services I've mentioned in the previous paragraphs, e-mail [email protected]

Woohoo!

Success!  I just uploaded the new site design that I had already been working on, and two or three tweaks later I've got a better looking website.  Now maybe I'll actually start posting here!

Meh

So if anybody is wondering (or even knows this site exists), I stole the border idea from the band 10 Years' website. I actually have been wanting to do fixed navigation links at the top of a site since I seen it on Xbox Live's Major Nelson's site (he's since redesigned), and after seeing the way 10 Years did theirs, I thought it would be a cool thing to do.  And now, a week or so after launch, I'm not happy with it.  I'm thinking of doing a major design overhaul soon.  Yeah, seriously.  Obviously, it'll be more traditional of a site than what I've got now.  I'm glad I tried the border thing, and it's definitely an idea to come back to someday.  For now, I think we'll be seeing a new thinksojoe.com look in the very near future.

BTW, if you guys don't know the band 10 Years, they're a pretty cool band.  They hit it big a few years ago with the song "Wasteland," and have had a few less successful but still commercially viable songs since then.  Check them out!

It's becoming a tradition...

I always talk on my blogs about being the brain behind stupid5pin.com.  Pop quiz - what was the first article on S5P?

The answer?  "Saddamize Saddam," a look at what the United States should have done with Saddam Hussein after capturing him the day the site launched.  Of course, none of my suggestions were used, and Hussein was eventually hung.

Which brings me to something that happened the other night.  This site had a countdown timer scheduled to hit zero at 1AM Eastern time on Monday, May 2, 2011, which was supposed to be the time of the official launch.  However, that night I opted to postpone the launch due to some breaking news - Osama Bin Laden was found and killed in a Pakistani mansion.  So yes, just like when I launched stupid5pin.com back in 2003, this blog will also launch with an article touting a victory for America.

However, since Osama Bin Laden is dead, and has been thrown overboard buried at sea, we can't really ponder what to do with him now like we did with Hussein.  What I can do is share a few tweets with you from the night Bin Laden was killed.  Enjoy!

@NZAfro tweets:  R.I.P Osama Bin Laden - World Hide And Go Seek Champion (2001 - 2011)

@GhostOsama tweets:  Well this sucks...I accidentally enabled location on my tweets.

@mattiseman tweets:  Navy Seals did the impossible. Give it up for the troops... also, @charliesheen starred in Navy Seals (1990) QED Sheen killed Osama

@jessenealtna tweets:  Although he is caught and dead, it don't bring them back, but just tells us to always remember "The Fallen"! We r here for a reason

@yoda tweets:  Killed you were, Osama. Force you can officially suck on.

@keviiiiiiin_ tweets:  That'll teach Bin Laden for putting his credit card details on his PS3...

@IAmJericho tweets:  To the brave soldier that shot Bin Laden: drinks on me for the rest of your life.

and finally...

@thinksojoe tweets:  America Wins.  Fatality.
